According to the holy text of the Brahmin religious order, Ashvastha came to be when “The Inventor reached into the earth and planted a great tree. From it grew a seed that he lay at the heart of the continent. As he cracked open its shell, the tree withered and died and great energy burst forth from the seed. He trapped this energy in the wood of the tree and the stones of the earth. With them, he constructed the first city out of the seed’s shell. This city would offer shelter from the fierce weather and the wild beasts.”
While this account is not strictly factual, it does mirror the actual creation of the city to some degree.
